Catherine Cattaruzza is a French visual artist who has lived in Beirut much of her life. Since 1992 she has produced installations for solo exhibitions as well as several collaborative works for festivals in the Middle East, North America and Europe. Much of her work explores the falsification of national identity, the atomization of political culture and post-war conditions.
Cattaruzza received her honorary degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse.
Cattaruzza’s recent works have been supported by the Swiss foundation for Culture, Pro-Helvetia.
In 2009, her four-channel video installation, ‘Body’, produced in collaboration with filmmaker and video artist Vatche Boulghourjian, was acquired by the Vehbi Koç Foundation - ARTER, Space for Art (Istanbul, Turkey) - as part of its permanent collection.
